Perpetua and TECNO EDM

Tecno E.D.M. S.r.l. is synonymous with vision, technology, and respect for the environment.

Over the years, the company has helped revolutionize the recycling process, transforming industrial waste into a symbol of design and sustainability.
It all began in May 2011, when one of our Tecno E.D.M. representatives met Susanna Martucci, founder of Alisea Recycled & Reused Objects Design. From that meeting came a fascinating challenge: to give new life to graphite powder, an inevitable by-product of electrode production.

This is how Perpetua, the pencil that never wears out, was born.

Made from 15 grams of recycled graphite powder, Perpetua is much more than a writing instrument — it is a manifesto of circular economy and responsible innovation.

AN AWARD-WINNING AND RECOGNIZED PROJECT

Perpetua won the award for Best Eco-Sustainable Invention at the SETTEGREEN AWARDS 2013, promoted by Corriere della Sera.

It received an Honorable Mention at the Premio Impresa Ambiente 2014, under the High Patronage of the Italian Ministry of the Environment.
It was nominated as a Finalist at the Best of the Year 2015 in New York.
In 2015, it was a guest of honor during the Italian Presidency Semester at the European Parliament in Brussels and became the official gift of the Italian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Environment.In 2016, thanks to a project by architect Marta Giardini, it received an Honorable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro, the most prestigious international design award.

A CONCRETE IMPACT

Thanks to the vision and commitment of Tecno E.D.M., more than 100 tons of graphite powder have been recovered to date, preventing it from ending up in landfills.
Perpetua, Alisea, and Tecno E.D.M. are now present throughout Europe and, since 2017, also in the USA, Canada, Australia, and Japan.Those who use Perpetua write and recycle at the same time a tangible sign of how industry can generate beauty, value, and sustainability.
